‘Tis the season to be moody? Cold weather and shorter days makes it easy for us to feel like what we see outside the window – dreary and blue. That being said, you should never quickly write off your mood. Look at the tips below for some ways you can try and overcome the winter blues. Life can be wonderful, even at below freezing temperature.

Exercise

Go outside! Walking your dog is a great way to get outdoors for a good amount of time, but just be sure to bundle up. If the cold weather is too daunting for you, head up to the Sky Level and get in a good hour of exercise on the treadmill!

Eat Well

A typical symptom of the winter blues for the everyday person is craving carbs, desserts and gaining some weight. It’s okay to indulge in your cravings, but it’s important to eat as healthily as you can to boost your mood and bring your energy levels up.

Light Therapy

Find a New Hobby

Keeping yourself busy is a huge part in overcoming your winter blues. Solo dance parties, singing, writing a journal and joining a club at school are all ways that you can have something to look forward to.

Taking some time for yourself everyday can mean anything from taking a bath to planning a vacation somewhere with actual sunshine. Try adding essential oils to your bath to help you relax and better control your mood or invest in a diffuser.
